The K.S. Varkey Inter-School English Elocution Contest is held annually to pay tribute to the memory of our beloved Founder, Late Mr. K.S. Varkey.

The main objective is to provide the perfect platform for 21st century students and to challenge them to vocalise, internalize, emote and dramatize words through a range of emotions, thereby enthralling the audience.  

The four categories, based on the age limit, were Sub-juniors, Juniors, Sub-seniors and Seniors.  The contestants were judged on audibility, clarity, pronunciation, expression, confidence/poise and effectiveness of delivery.

The preliminary round for the Sub-junior and Sub-seniors was held on the 31st October.  Diya Menon (9 H) – Sub-seniors got selected for the finals.The preliminary round for the Juniors and Seniors was held on the 1st November, were Joanne Biju (12 I) got selected for the finals.

On 8th November, 20 students, 5 students of each category from 15 different schools  rendered their selected pieces. 

Our Own English High School, Sharjah (Girls) Students Diya Menon (9 H) bagged 5th  place in Sub- Senior category and Joanne Biju (12 I) secured 4th place in Senior category.A token of appreciation along with certificates and a book was awarded to the participants.
