Ambareen Shaikh

Ambareen Shaikh joined GEMS Our Own English High School, Sharjah, in 2018, bringing with her a passion for transforming language learning into a dynamic, creative, and meaningful experience. She believes that English extends far beyond textbooks and examinations—it is a powerful medium for nurturing imagination, inspiring original thought, and empowering students to become confident, articulate communicators.

As Head of the English Department, Ambareen fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous growth. She leads her team in embracing engaging, student-centred teaching practices that encourage learners to think critically, express themselves creatively, and realise their individual potential.

Creative writing holds a special place in her educational philosophy. Passionate about nurturing young writers, she encourages students to discover their unique voices, explore new perspectives, and transform their ideas into compelling narratives. This commitment is reflected in her leadership of Innorite, the school's inter-school creative writing competition, which provides aspiring writers with a platform to celebrate their imagination and showcase their literary talent.
