Family First Carnival
“Together We Thrive: A Celebration of Family, Fun and Fond Memories”
The campus of Our Own English High School, Sharjah (Girls) came alive on Saturday, 25th October 2025, as the school hosted its much-awaited Family First Carnival — a vibrant celebration of togetherness, creativity and community spirit.
The event brought together students, parents, grandparents and teachers in a heart-warming display of unity and joy. The carnival grounds were abuzz with laughter, colour, and cheerful music as families participated enthusiastically in a host of engaging activities designed to strengthen bonds and create lasting memories.
We were honoured by the presence of Mr. Michael Guzder, Senior Vice President – GEMS Education, who applauded the school for fostering a strong community spirit. He enthusiastically explored the carnival zones, cheered for performances, and enjoyed participating in the fun-filled activities.
Highlights of the day included the Family Art & Legacy Wall, where families left their mark on a collaborative mural, and the International Family Food Festival, which offered a delightful spread of traditional dishes representing diverse cultures. The Family Talent Stage sparkled with performances in music, dance, and poetry, while the Family Challenge Zone inspired teamwork through interactive games and puzzles.
Equally popular were the Cultural Costume Parade and the Wellbeing & Mindfulness Zone, which encouraged reflection and balance amid the day’s excitement. The Family First Recipe Activation added a special touch, as families shared their cherished recipes for a chance to be featured in the GEMS Family First Cookbook.
The highlight of the day was the spirit of camaraderie that filled the air — families laughing together, students proudly showcasing their talents, and teachers joining in the festivities with heartfelt enthusiasm.
The Family First Carnival truly embodied the school’s ethos of nurturing connections and celebrating shared values. It was a day that reminded everyone that when families and schools come together, joy multiplies, bonds deepen, and communities thrive.
